MANSFIELD — It just wouldn’t feel like the holidays if snow weren’t part of the forecast.

Welcome to the holidays, at least over the next few days. The coldest air so far this season will sweep across the region into the weekend and bring some of the white stuff with it.

According to a forecast from the National Weather Service, this would be a good time to fire up the snow blower to make sure it works.

Today there is a 20-percent chance of snow showers with a high near 27. Winds could reach between 13 and 16 miles per hour under cloudy skies. Look for more snow showers tonight, a 50-percent chance, with the low around 20 and the wind whipping to around 17 miles per hour. North central Ohio could be looking at a snow accumulation of about a half-inch overnight.

On Friday a 30-percent chance of snow showers would arrive before 4 p.m. New snow would accumulate less than one inch with a low of around 17 degrees on Friday night.

The National Weather Service says Saturday figures to be clear and still cold, with a low of 19 and a high around 26. The extended forecast calls for snow Sunday morning, a 60-percent chance after 8 a.m. Temperatures could reach 34 with a low around 25.

Monday figures to bring a 40-percent chance of snow showers with a high near 33 and a low around 22. Tuesday looks like more snow, a 30-percent chance, with a high near 32.
