MANSFIELD – The Marion Avenue branch of Richland Bank was robbed early Tuesday evening, resulting in money stolen but no injuries to employees.
According to Chris Hiner, president of Richland Bank, a suspect entered the Marion Avenue Richland Bank shortly before 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday and demanded money. No weapon was observed, but the threat of a weapon was implied.
The suspect is believed to be a white male in his mid-40s with a goatee and wearing a tan hooded jacket. After the suspect received an unknown amount of money, he exited the bank and fled in the northern direction.
Hiner noted that there were three Richland Bank employees in the Marion Avenue branch at the time of the robbery, and all three were safe. There were no customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery.
The Mansfield Police Department responded to the robbery with a canine unit, with the FBI and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations also responding. Mansfield Police declined comment at the scene.
