Heather Evans, owner of Petit Tresor Boutique, hosted a Holiday Open House at the boutique on Saturday, Nov. 12.

MANSFIELD – A new boutique in Mansfield is dedicated to locally-made, unique gifts and home decor, just in time for the holidays.

Located at 1680 S. Main Street in Mansfield, Petit Tresor Boutique is the home of antiques, home decor, local made gifts, jewelry, furniture and more. At least 16 vendors rent space or cosign items in the boutique, and inventory is constantly changing.

Indeed, Petit Tresor Boutique lives up to its translated name – “little treasure shop.” Owner Heather Evans officially opened the doors to her treasure shop on Oct. 1.

“My parents are both antique dealers, so ever since I was a little kid we always went to flea markets and auctions,” Evans said. “My dad and his brothers own this building, so we got this idea to open our own shop.”

The first challenge for Evans and her family before opening Petit Tresor Boutique was rehabbing their building, including painting and cleaning. The building is also currently waiting for a water connection so they can start serving flavored coffee and local baked goods.

Ironically enough, opening Petit Tresor Boutique was a bit like coming home for Evans.

“I actually grew up on this road right here,” she said, gesturing to Yoha Drive running perpendicular to the shop. “I live in Fredericktown now, but I grew up just at the end of this street.”

Despite the initial challenges, it’s been worth it for Evans to see her dream come to life.

“It’s rewarding to come in each day and see that it’s getting all filled up,” Evans said. “People have been so positive with their comments when they stop in, saying they’re going to tell their friends. That’s the best compliment.”

The most important aspect of Petit Tresor Boutique is the fact that this local business is meant to support other local vendors within its business. Any of the cards or candles and t-shirts, anything that is handmade, is made by local people.

“We have all unique items, and everything is made in the United States,” Evans said. “You can find gifts here that you can’t find other places.

Petit Tresor Boutique is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Monday. For more information, call (419) 522-1225.
