SAVANNAH — The Savannah Lion’s Club held its monthly dinner meeting on Nov. 3, 2016 at the Savannah Town Hall.

There were 18 members present, along with eight guests. The annual Peace Poster winner attended along with her family. Caitlyn Cutlip, a 6th grader at Crestview Middle School, was this year’s recipient of 1st prize which is $25.

The program for the evening was presented by Lion Marj Pond. It involved recycling plastic grocery bags into sleeping mats. This project was started at Harmony House in Mansfield. Harmony House is a shelter for homeless people.

The project involves taking plastic grocery bags and weaving them into sleeping mats for an individuals who do not have beds to sleep on at night. Instead of throwing more plastic into the landfills, Lion Marj stated, donate them to Harmony House or contact her via the Savannah Lion’s website.
