BELLVILLE — The Clear Fork High School band is looking for financial support and banking on dessert lovers to rally it.

The band will host the Clear Fork Cake Auction on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. at the bandstand during the Bellville Street Fair.

Providing 50 desserts, a football signed by the Clear Fork varsity football team as well as other items. Mike Robison, a school board member in charge of running the auction said there will also be a big-ticket item, hinting at the possibility of a Playstation 4.

The money earned from the auction will go directly to the band’s funds to purchase new uniforms, sheet music, instrument repairs and purchase or rent instruments for students who cannot afford their own.

“We are 170-strong this year,” Robison said. “That’s 29 more students than last year, which is exciting. It’s important for us to get a good turnout to support our members.”

Robison said band purchases are often expensive. Last year the Colts’ band purchased two tubas for about $10,000. Uniforms came with “hefty price tags” totaling nearly $12,000, Robison said.

“This is an important program at Clear Fork. It’s worthwhile, and it’s our hope the public will come out and support us,” Robison said.
