ASHLAND (UPDATED at 12:30 PM) — According to a press release from the Ashland Police Department, one of the victims found at Covert Court Tuesday has been identified as Stacey Stanley.
Stanley, 43, of Greenwich, went missing Thursday after she got a flat tire at the BP station at Main and Union streets. Her car was found and towed on Sunday on Ninth Street in Ashland.
The press release says the Ashland County Coroner has identified one of the bodies found at Covert Court as Stanley but the other body remains unidentified. The press release says no cause of death has been determined.
Stacey’s sister Jenae Stanley posted on Facebook this morning, “My sister was one of the victims in that house. She nor anyone else deserved to die like that.”
Stanley’s body was discovered Tuesday after another woman called 911 and said she was being held against her will. Police responded to the call and rescued the woman and arrested her abductor, Shawn Michael Grate.
After obtaining search warrants, police and BCI searched two houses on Covert Court and discovered two bodies. Grate later led authorities to a site in Madison Township where a third body was found.
Grate, 40, is expected to appear in court today. He is in jail on an abduction charge.
Stanley’s family members and friends were at the crime scene Tuesday as authorities removed evidence and investigated the scene. Several of them expressed their displeasure with the way law enforcement had handled the search for their missing loved one.
