ASHLAND – The family and friends of Dr. James A. Wright hosted their fourth golf outing to honor his life and give back to the community, raising more than $1,500 for Hospice of North Central Ohio.
James A. Wright was an optometrist in West Salem for more than 40 years. He and Marjorie (Haun) Wright raised six children: Bob Wright of West Salem; Margaret Mast of Dayton; John Wright of Avon, Indiana; Dave Wright of Sarasota, Florida; Cathy Ewing of Shreve; and Bill Wright of Ashland.
“Our parents did many kind things for the community, usually behind the scenes. We host this outing and donate the proceeds to organizations that reflect the values our parents lived by every day,” Bill Wright said. “We are pleased to donate the proceeds of the 2016 James A. Wright Golf Outing to Hospice of North Central Oho. We know firsthand the invaluable servicesthey offer and thank them for helping families when they need it most. “
The Samaritan Hospital Foundation, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Roxtec sponsored the event and volunteers includedWendy South, Holly North, Deena Dye, Sandi Carpenter, Jackie Lindecamp, Lisa Haun, and Pat Haun.
The winning team was Cary North, John Murray, John Clark and Mark Kehl. Longest drive went to Eric Cooper; closest to the pin was Eric Fulk; and closest to the pin on the second shot was R.J. Dye. Brody Mast was the Poker Run winner and Jim Portner won the 50/50 and donated $100 to HNCO.
The outing took place at Ashland Golf Club on Saturday, Aug. 27. The family extends a special thank you to Dennis North, Emily McKinley and Nate Luther for their services and to the many friends and family members who gave generously of their time and money.
