ASHLAND – Ashland University invites AU students, employees and area residents to attend the annual Fall Convocation to be held on Sept. 13. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 3 p.m. in the University’s Jack and Deb Miller Chapel, located on the corner of King Road and College Avenue.

With faculty adorned in academic regalia, the event will feature an address by Ashland University President Dr. Carlos Campo. His address is titled “Developing the intellect, but not at the expense of the heart.”

Rev. Jason Barnhart, University chaplain and executive director of Christian Ministry, will extend a welcome and call to worship, while Dr. Naomi Saslaw, professor of English, will provide the scripture reading and Mallorie Miller, assistant director of Christian Ministry, will provide the benediction.

AU junior Emily Sycks will provide special music with two selections – “How Great Thou Art” and “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing.”

AU presidential interns Daivon Barrow and Caroline Toth will present readings, while AU senior and Student Senate President Joey Barretta will provide a welcome from the Senate president.

Dr. Timothy Guenther, university organist, will provide the opening and closing voluntaries.

A reception with light refreshments will be held immediately following the service in the lower chapel.
