SAVANNAH — The Savannah Lions Club recognized one of its own members by presenting Lion Kevin Reidy with the Melvin Jones Fellowship award at its meeting on Sept. 1.
President of the club, Larry Messmore, did the honors. This is the highest honor that can be awarded by Lions International and is only presented to those members who are truly committed to the mission of Lionism.
In addition, Lion Linda Bailey was voted “Cub of the Year” and Lion Jim Bernhard was voted by the members as “Lion of the Year.”
Attending the evening meeting was Lion Glenn McClure who is Zone Chairperson for Zone 7 the next two years. Lion McClure talked about his goals for the area clubs this coming year.
Lion Heather Motter also spoke on the Crestview Area Buyer’s Club and its role in the Crestview FFA program and the area 4-H clubs.
Lion Judy Kocab gave a report on the ‘Savannah Summer’ children’s program that she has coordinated for six years. This is a program sponsored by the Savannah Lions Club that offers children in the summer various activities and programs.
Twenty-two members were present for the meeting. The first pancake breakfast will be Oct. 1 at the Savannah Town Hall from 6:30 to 11 a.m.
