MANSFIELD — Levi A. Wade, 33, is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after trying to “set up” a housemate by downloading child pornography onto his housemate’s computer and then reporting it to police, according to an affidavit.
The Mansfield man was arraigned Friday on a federal child pornography charge. He appeared before Magistrate Judge William Baughman in Cleveland.
A detention hearing is set for Thursday, Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. before Magistrate Baughman. If convicted, Wade could spend at least five years in federal prison.
According to the affidavit, Wade told Mansfield police in July that he discovered what he believed were child pornography files when he was trying to repair his housemate’s computer.
On Aug. 23, a search warrant was executed at 390 Orange St. at which time the housemate’s computer was seized.
A short time later, Wade admitted that he lied to FBI agents, saying he downloaded the files himself in an attempt to frame his housemate because of a fight the two had months prior when he was accused of cheating on a woman.
Wade stated that he “only downloaded and viewed child pornography to make sure it was located on (his housemate’s) computer,” the affidavit says.
Police found nine pictures and eight video files depicting child pornography on the computer.

This is wrong in so many ways, I was never changed for this crime
