GALION — Filling vacant storefronts along Galion’s uptown shopping strip on Harding Way is becoming common.
The newest addition, after welcoming Copper Horse Antiques just 11 days prior, is the Roseberry House — a home living store featuring hand-made, repurposed furniture items and gifts. Most of the items are made by Holly and Steve Rose’s son and other local crafters.
Holly said her sons, Landon, Nicholas and Weston all help run the new store. It’s all driven by a desire to keep the uptown area growing.
“I’ve grown up in Galion and I have memories of shopping uptown as a kid. I just wanted to provide that sort of thing for people here now,” Steve Rose said.
His wife agreed.
“Yeah, we want to keep people shopping here, instead of driving all the way to Mansfield for this stuff,” Holly said.
The store officially opened its doors last Wednesday. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. They will close the shop on Sunday and Monday.
“I need a day to make stuff and put it out on the shelves,” Holly, a lifelong crafter, said.
The store will sell its crafts, but also open it up to consignment with other local crafters — a characteristic she believes makes the Roseberry House stand apart.
