EUGENE, Oregon — Ashland University grad Katie Nageotte came up just short Sunday in her attempt to make the Rio Olympics.

At the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, Nageotte tied for fifth place with a vault of 15-feet, 1-inch after failing on all three attempts at 15-3. The 15-1 vault was a personal outdoor record for Nageotte.

On her Facebook page, Nageotte congratulated the three vaulters who moved on to Rio.

“I jumped well, others just jumped better, and that’s the sport,” Nageotte said in her FB post. “Truly feeling blessed to have been apart of the best women’s pole vault Olympic Trials final in the US. 6 women jumped over 15 ft and I am so proud to be an American pole vaulter!!”

Nageotte, 25, is optimistic about her future in pole vaulting.

Look out ‪#‎tokyo2020‬ I’m coming for ya,” she posted.
