GALION — (UPDATED 3:25 p.m.) A press release issued by Galion’s Communications Director said the city’s power outage should be fixed by 3:30 p.m. in most Galion neighborhoods.
Echelberry said the power outage was due to a downed transmission line on the east end of town. Officials are still seeking details surrounding the downed power line.
Those with information are encouraged to call First Energy’s communication department at 330-384-5500.
The power outage began around noon Monday and Galion’s Electric Line Department worked with officials from First Energy to get it fixed.
The press release stated several other communities surrounding Galion experienced outages as well.
Crestline’s City Clerk Stacy Zier said they experienced a power outage for approximately one hour but that the power was “back on” around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
Mayor Tom O’Leary said Monday afternoon Galion is having difficulties with the city’s high voltage power lines.
“The power’s out so we’re troubleshooting it right now. It appears to be our high voltage lines. But were looking to see whether it’s from Ohio Edison’s feed line or First Energy’s,” O’Leary said.
The power outage is city-wide, O’Leary said.
“So that indicates it’s from our main feed line from the First Energy transfer point,” he said.
The city’s line department is working to solve the issue. O’Leary said there will be more details available later in the day.
