Liberty Pool is located on Grace Street in Mansfield.

MANSFIELD — The Liberty Park Pool will open on Saturday as scheduled, but the Linden Pool will not, as originally planned.

Mayor Tim Theaker made the announcement Thursday that due to unforeseen circumstances, Linden Pool could not open at this time.

“While preparing the pool for opening day, several problems were discovered,” Theaker said. “The pump motor would not work, a water line break was discovered, and leaks in the pool were detected.

“While we hope to resolve these issues in an expedient manner, we also need to assess costs involved with these repairs to make sure we are being fiscally responsible with taxpayer’s money.

“The city has been extremely lucky to be able to open these pools over the years; however, the aging pools are ever so challenging every year to continue to operate.”

Liberty Pool will remain open, weather permitting, through Aug. 7. Its hours of operation are from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week.

Admission is $1 for children between the ages of 4 and 12 and $2 for adults.

Admission costs and hours will be the same for Linden Pool once repair costs are assessed and/or made.
