MANSFIELD – Clarence F. Jackson, 79, of Greenwich, was killed after a two-car crash on Ohio 545 near Piper Road at 11:57 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Jackson was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital by Mifflin Township Fire Department personnel where he later died.
According to the Patrol, Jackson was driving a 2011 Chevrolet HHR southbound on Ohio 545 when the vehicle traveled left of center and struck a 2009 Subaru Forester driven by Paul W. Bright, 76, of Ashland. Briht’s vehicle was traveling northbound on Ohio 545.
Bright and a passenger in his vehicle, Mary Ruth Bright, 76, were transported to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital by Mansfield City and Madison Township Fire Department personnel respectively.
The patrol reported Jackson traveled left of center after negotiating a curve striking Bright’s vehicle head-on. Safety belts were in use by both drivers and Mrs. Bright.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by Mansfield City, Madison, Franklin, and Mifflin Township Fire Departments, as well as Shelly Smith & Sons Towing.
