MANSFIELD, Ohio — David Gilbert is the new principal at the Hedges Campus, Mansfield’s Integrated Learning Center, after board action on Tuesday night.
Gilbert replaces Michelle McCracken, who was terminated. Gilbert’s salary, effective as of this month, amounts to $64,217. He started Monday, Feb. 8.
“There was a lack of administrative oversight,” Garverick said of McCracken’s dismissal.
McCracken’s contract ends July 31, 2016, according to Garverick. He said McCracken will be paid until her term expires.
The board adjourned to an hour-long executive session to “discuss the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, demotion or compensation of an employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against an employee.”
In other action, the board unanimously approved the creation of a severance fund and appropriating $350,000 to it.
The board then went into an additional executive session before to discuss the discipline of a student and bargaining matters.
