MANSFIELD, Ohio — Thomas N. Miller and his two wives who made international headlines earlier this week are involved in an open court case with Richland County Children Services, according to court files.

Due to the nature of the case, the Millers’ attorney, John Boyd, said he could not discuss its details Wednesday night.

According to Richland County Court files, the case was filed first on Monday, Nov. 23 to the Richland County Court of Appeals with Belinda Miller, Thom Miller’s 44-year-old wife, as the plaintiff.

Richland County Children Services was unavailable for comment.

On Tuesday, Miller said something bigger is coming in two to three days, indicating to the yard signs piled in his yard at his Mansfield home.

Wednesday, Miller sent a text that read, “I may call you [next week]” after being asked when a second story from Barcroft Media might publish.

In the original story published by Barcroft Media, Miller was quoted saying, “I don’t preach about polygamy but I feel it is a very Christian lifestyle. I have no problem with homosexuals but I think it’s wrong that their marriage is now recognized by the state but my second marriage is not.”

“I’m going to try and fight the bigotry of that — this is America and my wives and I have the right to live anyway we please — providing we’re not hurting anybody,” he added.

According to Ohio Revised Code, bigamy is considered illegal in the state. Additionally, it states “a marriage may only be entered into by one man and one woman.”
