MANSFIELD, Ohio – A 14-year-old girl was found unresponsive by Mansfield officials just before 1 a.m. Friday morning at 98 South Franklin St., according to a news release from the Mansfield Police Department.
She was pronounced dead after Mansfield Fire Department personnel transported her to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
“The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time,” the release states.
Neither Mansfield Chief of Police Ken Coontz nor Mansfield Police Department Detective Frank Parrella could be immediately reached for comment.
Mansfield Fire Department personnel were attending to the girl when police arrived at the scene, according to the release.
Major Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and the Richland County Coroner’s Office was notified of the death.
