ONTARIO, Ohio – Joe Herron is not new to north central Ohio, but the business he manages is the newest entity to the area’s business community.

Herron, branch manager for Time Staffing (a division of the Doepker Group), welcomed visitors Thursday to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the company’s branch office at 2001 W. Fourth St. Suite A in Ontario (behind Western Southern Life).

“We’ve had an Ashland branch open for a long time,” Herron said, adding the company hopes to open a branch office every year or so. “This location was selected after looking at a couple of other locations in Mansfield.

“Ontario is an untapped resource for us.”

Mayor Randy Hutchinson was among the dignitaries attending Thursday’s 11 a.m. ceremony, wielding a pair of big, blue scissors to christen the new office.

“We want to welcome you to Ontario,” Hutchinson said. “We love having new businesses come to town and appreciate you investing in Ontario.”

Herron has a bit of history with the community. An eight-year veteran, he served two years with the 706th Transportation Company in Mansfield and had two tours of duty in Iraq.

He said he’s inspired by the job with Time Staffing.

“I’ve always had a strong passion for others to achieve greatness,” Herron said. “It’s my job to help people advance their career opportunities.

“We’re interested in people from all lots in life. Everyone deserves a second chance.”

Herron said the typical person seeking employment through Time Staffing is a high school graduate between 18-40, and perhaps looking for a new career option. Frequently, the starting wage is between $9 and $11.45 per hour.

The goal is to employ 75 workers by the end of the year, and then target 75 per month in 2016. Approximately half of those workers will eventually catch on full-time.

“We want to grow in this area,” he said.

Time Staffing has branch offices in Wooster, Ashland, Findlay, Fremont, Perrysburg and Upper Sandusky. The company specializes in temporary-to-hire employment focused largely on the industrial market.

MTD Products in Willard is a major client, while Major Metals Company in Bellville is another.

“Our meat and potatoes is staffing light industrial work,” Herron said. “Clerical, call centers, graphic design, stamping, robotic.

“Caring, commitment and communication are at the forefront of what we do.”
