ONTARIO, Ohio — Several job-seekers spent their Saturday afternoon at Richland Mall‘s job fair.
Katie Hosler, events and marketing coordinator at Richland Mall, said more than 30 businesses throughout the area participated, with companies ranging from healthcare to construction, retail and more.
With the holidays approaching, some businesses were looking for seasonal help. Others were looking to fill a variety of positions, both full- and part-time.
Kim Black, Claire’s store manager, said Claire’s is looking to hire “every position known to man.”
“In general, our company recruits for any position for anywhere in the district,” Black said. “My store is looking for every position because we’re restructuring right now and getting ready for the holiday season so we need seasonal help, too.”
Attendees could also learn about different volunteer opportunities that are available. All About the Paw Pet Rescue, for instance, handed out information on how to become a volunteer.
Shannon Mahoney, volunteer foster parent with All About the Paw Pet Rescue, said, “We’re always looking for volunteers.”
Rose Feagin of Ontario browsed the different booths at the job fair.
“I’m actually taking some classes and thinking about a second career,” she said.
The former reporter said she’s been trying to start a freelance business and is looking for another job in the meantime. She would prefer to have a career in social services or communications “because that is what a lot of my background consists of.”
Hosler noted that while Richland Mall’s job fair is typically held annually, depending on interest levels, more could be held throughout the year. Interested companies should contact her at 419-529-5312.
