MANSFIELD, Ohio — Legislation approved by Mansfield City Council Tuesday night at their regular meeting will cause a few changes at the municipal building in terms of layout.
Council approved Bill 15-198, which transfers appropriations in the amount of $51,800.12 from the general fund non-departmental transfers out classification to the general fund maintenance operations contractual services and capital outlay classifications.
When explaining Bill 15-198 to his fellow council members, Third Ward Councilman Jon Van Harlingen said, “The main purpose of these funds is to expand the probation department onto the second floor, which is currently in police records. Police records will then be moved up to the third floor, right next door to the old utility collections department.”
Council also approved Bill 15-209, which transfers appropriations in the amount of $4,645 from the general fund non-departmental transfers out classification to the general fund maintenance operations contractual services classification.
“This is for the remodeling of the community policing room,” Van Harlingen said.
He said the former utility collections office will be remodeled into a community policing room.
“I’m just not exactly sure what they’re doing with the money to remodel that little area,” he said.
