MANSFIELD, Ohio — Fitness instructor Abby Hammett recently opened “BEyond FITness Studio” in Mansfield.

The 24-year-old Mansfield resident said she has been teaching fitness classes for the past 11 months in the area, accumulating a “following” of individuals who enjoy participating in her classes.

“I found this little studio and thought it was perfect,” she said.

Since the studio–which is located at 340 Wood St.–opened in June, her routine has gotten a bit busier, but it’s worth it.

She currently teaches three classes each week, held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Classes include Barre, PiYo, and Flex and Flow. For descriptions of each class, visit the BEyond FITness website at www.beyondfitstudio.com

“I’ve done PiYo for about two years before getting certified and it was one of the only exercises that I never got injured doing,” said Hammett, who has been an avid runner for several years. “It helped my running a ton.”

Hammett said people of all fitness levels are welcome to attend classes.

“I work with people who have lower back issues and different types of injuries,” she said. “And every class can be modified depending on peoples’ experience or health.”

She added, “My classes are different every day…I like to change it up.”

During each class, clients are educated on the proper use of essential oils. She said she’ll explain how essential oils can benefit one’s health and even give clients samples.

A full-time chiropractic assistant at Sazdanoff Chiropractic Clinic, Hammett said, “I’m keeping myself busy running from place to place, but I love it.”

Eventually, she’d like to make fitness instruction her full-time job.

“My classes have been full, and I’m so thankful for that. Last month I did two classes and now I’m doing three.”

In the fall, she hopes to offer wellness programs.

“I want to expand ‘beyond fitness,'” she said.

She explained that she wants to incorporate all facets of health and wellness, noting, “I just want to help as many people as I can.”
