UPDATED — MANSFIELD, Ohio — There was no way to tell how successful the first Safe Summer Friday Night was going to be when the Mend Mansfield Coalition imagined it. The weekly “block party” idea was formed to give Mansfield neighborhood residents something fun to look forward to and food, music, and activities offered a way to meet the neighbors.
Well, it was a success.
The first Safe Summer Friday Night was held at Johns Park last week.
The weather cooperated, a nice crowd appeared, there was food, and the mayor and the prosecutor participated in a line dance. DJ Flip, aka Rhonda Sylvester, kept things hopping, while children played in the park, boys played football with a Mansfield police officer, you know…it was a block party.
The party was scheduled to continue Friday, July 17 at Prospect Park from 6-8:30 p.m., but this has been canceled due to weather.
Ensuing Safe Night Friday Nights will held in various other city parks: July 24 at North Lake Park, July 31 at Prospect Park, and August 5 at North Lake Park.
