MANSFIELD, Ohio–What is a dinner of fine cuisine with tables decorated in white and guests dressed in white called?
It’s called a Fête en Blanc. The elegance of white décor and clothing and the fine food by A Moveable Feast Supperclub combine with the beauty of Kingwood Center Gardens for a memorable evening.
A Moveable Feast is a name inspired by the Ernest Hemingway’s memoir, A Moveable Feast, about his years as an expatriate writer in Paris in the 1920s.
Locally, Operations Coordinator Susan Vander Maas and Chef Rasul Welch create a fine dining experience at various area venues, with an effort to solely use local food items.
The Fête en Blanc menu will feature locally sourced delicacies with French flair. For instance, Truite Fumee et Haricots Blanc describes, in French, the smoked trout and pickled shallots with wine poached beans. Another meat dish is the Cervelas et Pommes a L-Nuille, which is smoked café sausages and Parisian potato salad.
The menu for Fete en Blanc is available on A Moveable Feast’s Facebook page. For a fun video of how to participate, click here.
“It’s also going to be an educational experience,” said Coordinator Susan Vander Maas. “It becomes an educational opportunity. Chef will talk about the vendors and what they have to offer and how to use their produce.”
This is ticketed event and a portion of the sales will benefit Kingwood Gardens. The “funds raised are used to advance our mission of providing exceptional horticultural education and enjoyment for our community and guests,” Bonnie Gross, Visitor Services Manager for Kingwood said.
The dinner takes place on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Kingwood Center Gardens. Seating is limited so it’s important to get tickets and plan ahead. Click here to get purchase tickets.
