The 6th Annual Race Car Show to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be Sunday, May 3 at Firestone, 1282 Park Avenue West, Mansfield. The event is sponsored by Firestone and Advance Auto.
This car show provides the opportunity to see real race cars, up-close. Attendees will have the opportunity to have their pictures taken with race car drivers, and some will allow people to get in their cars.
The event will feature door prizes, raffle drawings and a 50/50 drawing.
Longtime racing announce Chuck Griffith will serve as announcer for the event.
At 1 p.m., local track hero Wayne Maffett Jr wlil be honored. Maffett hurt his back and had a foot amputated in September after a 25-foot fall from a scissor lift.
There will also be a Fastest Tire Changing Contest. Anyone can participate and it is free. Just get a team of three people together and get the tire changed in the fastest amount of time.
All types of vehicles are invited to this show, including dirt, asphalt, cars, trucks, quads, wedges, karts and dragsters. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 25 pre-registered cars.
