Roger Weirick

Lexington: In life you are either a passenger or a pilot. Roger Weirick was a pilot – literally. As a small aircraft pilot, he loved to hop in his plane even for a short day trip. And as to his life, Roger piloted a life plan with freely expressed emotions, and the honest hardworking pride of a loving husband and father. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time wih his family and grandkids, riding motorcycles, painting with Bob Ross, and roaming around the family farm.

Roger L. Weirick passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, April 12, 2015 at his rural Lexington home. He was 70 years old.

He was born April 16, 1944 in Mansfield to parents Earl and Martha (Williams) Weirick. Following High School, Roger moved to Pennsylvania to attend mechanics school where he met the love of his life. Barbara caught his eye and the pair married March 20, 1965.

Roger later began his own excavating business, Weirick Excavating. A jack of all trades, Roger enjoyed plowing snow and trimming trees on his Christmas tree farm, Weirick’s Evergreen Farm.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Barbara Weirick of Lexington; children Nathan Earl (Diane) Weirick, Timothy Allen Weirick, and Renea Lea (Randall) Weirick-Brown; grandchildren Isabella and Logan Weirick, Tyler Nichols, Mercedes Ayers, Cody (Jasmine) Blevins, Levi (Ashley) Blevins, and Casey Blevins, Randall (Brooke) Brown III, Kaylee Mion, and Luke Brown; great grandchildren Lily, Kinzey, Sydney, TJ, Maddox, Tommy, and Mali; sister Elinor Burson of Garland, Texas, and brother Wayne (Sue) Weirick of Lexington; nieces Cyndi (Mark) Miller, Laurie (Michael) Ware, Beth (Dan) DuBois, and Dianne (Ric) Leon; nephew Doug (Lisa) Weirick; numerous great nieces and great nephews, and several longtime friends including Terry Blevins.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and longtime friends, including JC Campbell and Jerry Barnett. He was a friend to all and a stranger to none.

His family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will also be held at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 4 p.m. with Celebrant Jerry Wilson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children – Cincinnati, either at the funeral home or sent directly to SHC-Cincinnati, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229. The Shriners Hospital has been an absolute blessing to the Weirick family and any donation to them would be an honor to Roger and the entire family.
