MANSFIELD, Ohio — Keeping money and jobs local is important to the Building Industry Association of North Central Ohio (BIA), and this weekend the association will showcase many local businesses at the fifth-annual North Central Ohio Home and Garden Show out at the Ohio State Reformatory.
“We support local businesses,” said Executive Officer Natilie Miller. “The show is just a way for us to support people from Richland County and surrounding areas.”
The show opens at the Reformatory on Friday from 3 -7 p.m. It continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This year’s show will features over 50 businesses from Richland, Ashland, Crawford, and Morrow county areas. Some of those businesses include Zara Construction Inc., Ohio CAT, Lowe’s, Sam’s Club and J & J Spray.
“We try to do this both inside and outside. There will be 200-foot-long by 40 foot wide tents outside and many others lined up inside the reformatory,” said Miller.
Admission is $2 per person or two nonperishable food items per person. Children under 7 are free. Self-guided tours of the reformatory will be available for $5 per person during show hours and are only given in conjunction with admission to the Home and Garden Show.
The food items, which Miller said is the popular method of payment, will be donated to Iberia Presbyterian Church for their food pantry ministry.
The BIA of North Central Ohio is a nonprofit devoted to the promotion of new home construction, home remodeling, education, and sensible regulations dealing with home construction. They participate in the community through Habitat for Humanities, Pioneer Career and Technology Center, Mansfield Senior High Construction Program, Madison Comprehensive High School Construction Program, and underprivileged children in the Richland-Crawford-Ashland-Morrow County areas.
