MANSFIELD, Ohio – The Democratic Central Committee of Ontario voted today in favor of Barb Crider for the position of Ontario City treasurer. The position was vacated on Jan. 8 by Linda Stoodt.

Central Committee Chairman Matthew Finfgeld of the Richland County Democrat Party said the brief meeting was to appoint Crider’s as interim treasurer.

“Linda was the treasurer for nine or ten years. The party then had 45 days to find a replacement,” explained Finfgeld. They discussed the position with a few people and then Crider came along and expressed an interest.

“She’ll fill the remainder of the term,” said Finfgeld, which ends Dec. 31, 2015. Jim Hairston, who currently serves as councilman of the 4th Ward, is running for treasurer and will be on the November ballot.

Crider said she heard about the position from Deputy Auditor Dave Metzger. “Because of my work with United Way tracking revenue, he thought it would be a great fit,” she said.
