GALION, Ohio – Someone is holding a winning ticket that could make them a millionaire. The ticket could be as close by as Richland County or in Galion, where it was sold.

The East Side Carry Out on 1217 Harding Way East in Galion sold a winning “Mega Millions” lottery ticket. The winner has yet to be identified.

The winning ticket is worth $1 million.

According to store owner Greg Rumple, the individual might not know the ticket is a winner. The numbers were announced January 31 but the winning ticket could have been bought five weeks prior to the announcement.

“The person could have bought it around Christmas time,” said Rumple. “Some people don’t check their tickets right away because of a ritual they might have,” he added.

The most an individual has won from East Side Carry Out in the past has been $100,000, said Rumple.

Instructions for claiming a winning ticket are found on the back of the lottery ticket. According to Ohio Lottery Public Information Officer Marie Kilbane, the winner has 180 days to claim the ticket.

“It’s actually pretty early still. Sometimes winners don’t claim the ticket right away so they can figure things out with their finances,” said Kilbane.

To file a claim the winner must call a claims office. The number is 1-800-589-6442.
