Rita Yates

Rita Yates, age 51, resident of Shelby died Friday, January 23, 2015, at the Hospice House in Ashland.

Born November 8, 1963 in Morgan County, Kentucky to Emil and Elma Lou (Howard) Carter, she had been a Shelby resident for the past seven years.

Rita was an active member of the Eagles where she served as vice president of the Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to watching the birds, she loved her Harley Davidson and riding with all her Harley friends.

She is survived by her son, Joseph (Chasity) Yates of Fairborn, OH; two grandchildren, Preston and Noah Yates; four siblings, Dewayne (Alicia) Carter of Morehead, KY, Rhonda (Greg) Strickler of Shiloh, OH, Mike Carter of Morehead, KY, and Rodney (Brenda) Carter of Morehead, KY; special aunt and uncle, Mable & Ken Brown of Shelby; a very special friend, Lee Stober, numerous nieces, nephews and her beloved Jack Russell, Prissy. Rita was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Funeral service will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby with Fr. James Sanford officiating. Friend may call at the funeral Tuesday from 3-5 p.m.. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, OH 44805.
