Mary E. Hyatt Bledsoe Gray, 77, of Mansfield, died January 22, 2015 at Brethren Care in Ashland following a brief illness. Born a coal miner’s daughter on January 24, 1937 in Bartley, WV, she was the daughter of Roy Clayton and Mattie Alice (Barnett) Hyatt.
Mary loved car shows, country music, and CB radios, where she went by “Double L”. As a child, Mary loved to roller skate. Regardless of her health, she loved to dance and sure could cut a rug! Always generous with a compliment, she never met a stranger, loved to talk, and always gave hugs. Mary worked for Woodlawn Nursing Home for six and a half years.
Surviving are her husband of over 31 years, Ronald E. Gray of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Barb Bledsoe; step-daughters, Angie Gray and Michelle (John) Boggs; step-son, Tony (Megan) Gray; step-grandchildren, Melissa (Sean) Harperink, Mitchell and Maddie Gray, and Sophia Boggs; and step-great grandchildren, Nickolaus, Keith, and Veronica. She is also survived by her brother, Roy (Skeet) Hyatt; sister, Shirley (Joe) Katusick; very special niece, M. Faye (Mike) Dinnaur; and several other nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Lee Bledsoe; sister, Judy Barnes; brother, Lawrence Hyatt; and sister-in-law, Georgie Hyatt.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Mike Rose. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
