Elbert Spencer

Elbert Spencer, 81, of Loudonville died Saturday evening, Jan. 10, 2015 in Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville after an extended illness.  He was born Sept. 7, 1933 in Breathitt County, KY and was the son of the late Isaac Newton “Dee” and Bertha (Benton) Spencer.  He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and had lived in Loudonville since 2007, moving from the Middletown-Germantown areas.  He was a 25-year employee of Rogers Pontiac Buick in Dayton working as a body mechanic until his retirement in 1990.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Loudonville and enjoyed dancing, card playing, and vegetable and flower gardening.  He was very proud to have traveled through all fifty states and was known as a real “character”. 

He is survived by his wife, Dimples L. (Vance) Spencer, whom he married Jan. 17, 1957; one son, Joey Lee (Vicki) Spencer of Riverside, OH; three daughters:  Quguandetta (Walt) Miller of Loudonville, Angela Kay Hayes of Dayton, TX, and Shawn Melva (Wayne) Hayes of Trinity, TX; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Stanley Spencer of Seaman, OH, and one sister, Eunice Hatton of Caney, KY.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 13 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. in the Lindsey Funeral Home with Rev.
