The word “home” is powerful… and not always evocative of the warm feelings we wish it was. Let’s be candid, if you called Northern Ohio home in the past 30 years, not every one of your memories is positive.

The harsh realities of a post-industrial economy had a massive impact on our region. Mansfield and the surrounding communities were emblematic of the foundational changes in Ohio. For many years, it was pretty ugly in a lot of respects. There’s no point in denying it.

In our minds however, the only thing more foolish than denying the past is choosing to live in it. The fact is that Northern Ohio is improving in many respects. Investment in Richland County, for example, has grown significantly and visibly. One needs only reference Ohio Health, Avita, FedEx, School Specialty, and STARTEK for a few examples. The arts, entertainment and outdoor recreation opportunities are on a similar upward trend.

Along those lines, Richland Source is happy to announce the launch of a new part of our company, Made in the 419. Made in the 419 is a casual apparel brand that creates a simple, easily understood way for residents of Northern Ohio to connect with their home and with one another.

Over the past two months, a team of people at Richland Source has worked day and night to bring Made in the 419 to market. We’re proud of our first collection and what it says about our region and the people in it. But more than that, we’re excited for Made in the 419’s potential to connect the residents of Northern Ohio to deep and prideful feelings of home.

Can a T-shirt do that all by itself? Probably not. The T-shirts aren’t a catalyst. They won’t cause anything to happen. The shirts are the result. They reflect and express the pride, creativity, family, and Midwestern work ethic that is already here.

Now through Christmas, Made in the 419 is offering 15 percent off all orders to celebrate our launch. We ship anywhere in the USA, and offer convenient pickup options for locals.

Thanks for joining us on this ride. Stick around. We’re just getting warmed up.
