A driver traveling southwest on U.S. Route 42 in Lexington apparently passed out and drove off the right side of the road on Friday, Nov. 21. The incident damaged a Century Link guy-wire, the tension cable used to stabilize a utility pole; business property; a traffic sign; and the driver’s Chevrolet Colorado truck.
The driver, a 45-year-old Lexington man, was transported to MedCentral Hospital with bruises to his face and a cut lip.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, evidence at the scene suggested the driver was not conscious at the time of the crash and the truck drifted off the road and onto the guy-wire. The driver was transported to the hospital by Troy Township EMS, and doctors at the hospital advised him that he had passed out prior to the incident.
