ONTARIO — State Rep. Mark Romanchuk wants to continue building a brighter economic future for Richland County. And voters decided overwhelmingly Tuesday to give him the opportunity.

Romanchuk (R-Ontario) was re-elected to a second term as the 2nd Ohio House District Representative in a landslide victory over Democrat challenger Don Bryant of Mansfield. Unofficial figures provided by the Richland County Board of Elections had Romanchuk garnering nearly 70 percent of vote.

“I’m just super grateful to the voters of Richland County for giving me an opportunity to go to Columbus again,” Romanchuk said at a Republican gathering at the Ontario Events Center. “I can’t wait to continue the good work that we’re doing in Columbus.

“My goal is always to improve people’s lives and a big part of that is certainly trying to get people back in the workforce.”

The 51-year-old Romanchuk, owner and president of PR Machine Works, Inc., in Ontario, built his re-election campaign on job creation and workforce training. During his first term in office, he helped secure $4.8 million in state funds for upgrades to The Ohio State University at Mansfield and North Central State College campus area.

“I’m very pleased,” Romanchuk said when asked about his first term. “If I wasn’t pleased, then I would reconsider running again. I think my voice has been heard.

“Ohio and Richland County are on the right track and we want to continue that.”

A nonpartisan state legislature is the key for continued economic growth, both in Richland County and state-wide.

“I’ve learned that there are a lot of good people in Columbus, a lot of good Representatives on both sides of the aisle,” Romanchuk said. “A lot of people, in my view, get it and know what needs to get done. There’s not this bickering that happens in (Washington). That’s not how it is in Columbus.

“We get a lot of things done.”

Romanchuk is looking forward to his second term.

“I think there’s some good things for Richland County in the future,” he said.
