Doris R. Smith, 96, died Sept. 10, 2014 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Loudonville.

Mrs. Smith was born July 9, 1918 to Nathan and Mary Ranck. After graduation from Mansfield Senior High School, she was employed in the accounting department of Westinghouse. She was active in musicals and had performed with a symphony and was the soloist for First Presbyterian Church for thirteen years. For twenty nine years, she directed the choir at the Linden Road Presbyterian Church. Her strong soprano voice was so powerful, especially singing The Lord’s Prayer. Mrs. Smith was a devout Christian.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Becky and Dean Fields of Butler, Diane and Jack Haburn of Mansfield and their son Daniel Haburn, and Terry Ranck of Indiana and his children, Kelli Jette and Justin Jette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merl Smith and a great niece, Jaclyn Haburn.

The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Manor for the loving care given to Mrs. Smith while she was there.

There will be no public services at this time. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society, 2225 Citygate Drive Suite E, Columbus, OH 43219.
