Richard Terrence Eckels passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2014.
Terry was born Oct. 15, 1959 in Mansfield, Ohio, to Eileen O’Leary Eckels and the late Richard Eckels. Terry was a 1977 graduate of Madison High School. He loved all sports, but especially baseball. He was in his element when he was attending an area sports event. When Terry was in good health, he helped umpire some the Madison ball games.
He is survived by his mother, Eileen O’Leary Eckels; wife, Judy Rogers Eckels; a son, Brian Eckels; one grandson, Phineas Eckels; a sister, Kay Smith Orsborn; and four nieces, Susan, Deborah, Donna and Kimberly. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by two stepsons; paternal grandparents, Russell and Blanche Eckels; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Lillian O’Leary; several aunts and uncles from both sides of his family; and several cousins.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Aug. 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. in Mansfield Memorial Park. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
