Avast ye mateys! Peg Leg Pete, the friendliest Pirate Cat on the seven seas, has lowered the gangplank and is coming ashore to take over the port of Mansfield. He’s looking to conscript a new crew for his next mission, searching for buried treasure. Pete has created a treasure map of downtown Mansfield for aspiring pirates to use to prove they are worthy crew members. Peg Leg Pete has hidden Pirate Portraits in 28 different businesses in downtown Mansfield. Collect them to win your share of the loot.
Participants still have the entire month of July to show your sea worthiness before Pete weighs anchor from The Richland Carrousel Park port on the first of August.
Below is Peg Leg Pete’s Treasure Map Legend. Read up on how to become a crew member:
- Check out the Richland Source interactive treasure map of downtown Mansfield showing all the stores hiding a Pirate Portrait (paper copies will be available at Main Street Books).
- Find the Pete Portraits in the participating businesses and collect a colorable card
- When you collect 10 cards, visit Main Street Books to receive your Badge of Piracy and wear it proudly!
- Come back to the bookstore when you’ve collected 15 cards and give your name to be entered in the prize drawings.
- If you collect all 28, come to the bookstore for your Pirate Eye Patch: you’ve proven your sea worthiness as a pirate!
- Come to Pete’s Pirate Party on Friday, August 1, 6pm at the Richland Carrousel Park for fun, food, and prize drawings. Must be present to receive a prize.
Main Street Books organizes the annual downtown Mansfield scavenger hunt. This year the Carrousel is hosting the final party. Peg Leg Pete is an animal on the Carrousel and is the featured animal on this year’s token. Richland Source generously donated the space for this interactive map and list of participators. Pete’s Portrait was created by Lou Graziani of Graziani Multimedia. Call Main Street Books with questions at 419.522.2665, or visit their website: www.MainStreetBooksMansfield.com.
