The 179th Airlift Wing will dedicate one of the C-130H aircraft 83-0488 to the city of Mansfield on Saturday, Jul 5, 2014, during the 2014 Mansfield Lahm Airport Day. The dedication ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. centered on the C-130 located to the northeast side of the Subway restaurant.

The 179th Airlift Wing will be designating the aircraft as the “Spirit of Mansfield.” The title “Spirit of Mansfield” is painted over the aircrew door and underneath the title is an Air Force Outstanding Unit ribbon that the Wing has been awarded on numerous occasions.

Special guest for the event will include Representative Bob Gibbs and Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker. Senator Sherrod Brown and Representative Pat Tiberi offices will both be represented.

Col Gary McCue, 179th Airlift Wing Commander, will present a special memorial shadow box of the C-130H dedication ceremony to the City of Mansfield in gratitude for all of the support that the city of Mansfield provides to the 179th Airlift Wing and all of its members. Each guest may speak briefly about the occasion before the aircraft nameplate is unveiled.
