Mayor Randy Hutchinson announced at the recent Ontario council meeting that the new band shell at Marshall Park is now complete.

“We’ve schedule four concerts that I really think people will like,” said Hutchinson. On June 17 the country music group DeVault Ridge Band will be the kick-off performance at 7 p.m.

Classic rock performers, the Caffiends, will play on July 15; on Aug. 14 the RibTicklers will perform their mix of Dixieland, Swing, Latin and a mix of period music.

Project 116, a Christian rock group, will end the season on September 6.

All concerts are free and begin at 7 p.m.

Mayor Hutchinson also presented a proclamation at the council meeting to Buddy Workman, recognizing June as Responsible Fatherhood Awareness Month. Workman, a volunteer for the Richland County Fatherhood Initiative, accepted the proclamation on behalf of local fathers.

“As mayor I encourage all citizens to recognize the importance of responsible fatherhood and to work to strengthen our families by ensuring positive father involvement for the future of those most precious resources – our children,” read the Mayor.

Workman thanked the council and invited everyone to the June 13th Father’s Fun Day at the Mansfield YMCA, an event funded by a grant from the Ohio Commission on Fathers.

The mayor updated the council on the measles outbreak reported from the Richland County Health Department as having exceeded 185 documented cases at this time.
