Tough Mudder, an event that includes obstacle courses designed to test all-around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie was held in Mansfield last year. It takes place again this year on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18. However, Tough Mudder officials have moved parking from fields across from the event site at Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport to the former General Motors site at Beer Road.
All parking for the event will take place at the Beer Road location.
On Thursday afternoon, Tough Mudder emailed participants to notify them of the change, citing unsafe conditions at the former parking location near the event.
“Due to extreme weather in the area, we are monitoring whether or not it is possible to host the Tough Mudder Ohio event this weekend. We are doing absolutely everything we can to ensure we can stage the event and, right now, we are planning to go ahead,” the email stated, “However, there is a slim chance we will cancel the event if conditions become unsafe. Your safety is of the utmost importance to us and we simply will not risk it.”
Shuttles will transport participants and spectators to and from the parking site and the event location.
The email stated that participants will be notified by 4 p.m. on Friday for more information in regards to how the event will be affected.
Event participants are directed to the event website for parking instructions. Participants are encouraged to check in one hour before their start wave to avoid a rush to the start chute.
The Tough Mudder Ohio event for Saturday is completely sold out. The Sunday event is listed as 90 percent full.
