April is a busy month for the local music scene. As temperatures get warmer, however, the bands have seemed to spring forward in a lineup new sounds and warm spirits.

There are a number of venues in Richland County who have busy lineups for the month of April. The list of current and upcoming shows happening in Richland County starts in a local coffee shop.

Relax, It’s Just Coffee

For a faster-paced musical sound and experience, you might be interested in checking out The Homeless Gospel Choir and Grey Gordon show.

The Homeless Gospel Choir is a one man band who is interested in writing about the political climate. Derek Zanetti, the man behind the band, has started a documentary in which he aims to show his alternative approach to music. Since he does all booking, recording, writing and traveling on his own, he wants to show others it is possible to do it all on your own.

Har-di-Har is a band based out of Iowa and is a husband-and-wife duo. Their music exhibits an alternative sound, and has been described as “dreamy alt-folk.”

Just around the corner, at the intersection of South Diamond and West Fourth Streets, City Grille and Bar is serving up their own series of music.

Local band dr. simple is an acoustic duo comprised of Paul Blubaugh and Dave Lay. The band plays a selection of covers from what they deem to be the best songs of the past 40 years.

Two other West Fourth Street Venues will be hosting bands and musical acts.

Finally, The Happy Grape in Lexington hosts Jeff Bell every Thursday night at 7 p.m.
