There was sobering news at today’s 4 p.m. meeting for Mansfield City Schools’ Financial Planning and Supervision Commission. The meeting was held at the auditorium of Mansfield Senior High School where a 20 percent Reduction in Faculty as well as the closing of schools was introduced as part of an addendum proposed to be adopted at the end of April.

Staffing reduction could include the loss of more than 100 employees including administrators, staff and coaches.

“In addition to the staffing changes, Mansfield proposes to close the Spanish Immersion, Alternative, and Newman schools,” according to the meeting’s addendum.

The commission is charged with developing a financial recovery plan for Mansfield City Schools under provisions of the fiscal emergency declaration issued by the auditor of state.
