The Mansfield Christian Lady Flames (MCS) ended their season on Monday in the Ohio Christian Schools Athletic Association tournament. Cornerstone Christian topped MCS, 52-35.

The teams stayed close in the first quarter, ending with Cornerstone leading by a thread at 10-9. The following quarter buried the Lady Flames in a deficit they would not escape. Cornerstone went on a 15-3 run and ended 25-12 at the break.

MCS came out of the locker room and limited the damage. Cornerstone won the second half by a 27-23 margin to finish with a 17 point victory.

For Mansfield Christian, Emily Smith and Addie Daugherty led with 9 points,  Ni Virden followed with 6. Char Adkins posted 5 points. Allie Maiyer finished with 5 points.

Daugherty also led a strong rebounding effort from the Lady Flames with 11 personal rebounds. MCS won team rebounding 28-24.

While the season may be over, Coach J.R. Wilson and his program have much to build on. Next year, MCS will return 7 from their current varsity roster, 6 of which were underclassmen this year.

The teams ends their season with significant achievement compared to years past. Their 2013-2014 campaign yielded the squad their first OHSAA tournament win in 8 years.
