The Mansfield Police Department held a promotional ceremony on Wednesday afternoon for Sergeant Robert Skropits and Patrol Officer Angela Eichinger on their recent promotions.

Skropits was promoted to lieutenant and Eichinger was promoted to sergeant of the Mansfield Police Department. Chief of Police Kenneth Coontz stated, “I am very, very proud of both of these people coming up in the ranks. All three of us kind of came on around the same time and we all know each other well.”

Coontz described the effectiveness of Eichinger’s work ethic.

“Anyone that has worked with Angela will tell you that she is a no nonsense worker. She doesn’t mess around and she wants to get the job done. If you give her a task she will get that task done. She just doesn’t deviate from that and she is very reliable in that way. For a new police chief, that is something that is very desirable,” said Coontz.

Eichinger has been with the department since 1991, starting out as a parking control officer. In 1993, she became a patrol officer.

“It will be a change from what I am used to, but I look forward to the challenge and I am up for it. I also get to work with an awesome chief,” said Eichinger.

Coontz was pleased with Skropits’ promotion as well.

“Rob is a great guy and I am very proud to see him moving up. I was proud see him make the rank of sergeant and he has respect of people within the police department. He will be a huge asset to me and Keith Porch as we move forward in our new positions. We are trying to get this department in the direction that we want to get it in and shape it into our vision. Rob is definitely going to be an asset to help me out in that way,” said Coontz.

Skropits has been with the department for 20 years. “Working with Chief Coontz is great and we are all moving in the right direction with getting this department strong again,” said Skropits.

Coontz added, “Each step that they take is a new step in their life. As a police chief, I feel very proud to have the people that I have surrounded myself with because you can never have enough reliable people around you,” said Coontz.
