The Ashland Lady Arrows came to Clever Lane to take on Lexington in girls varsity basketball on Thursday night. The Lady Arrows picked up an OCC win, 49-27. 

The Lady Arrows leaped out to a 14-8 lead in the first doubled that tally at half, 28-16 and never look back. They cruised through the second half and attained their largest lead at the buzzer, winning by 22 points.

Ashland won the turnover margin 19-24 and cashed in for 27 points off turnovers. Lexington just managed to redeem 5 points from 19 opportunities.

Lady Lex battled on the boards but fell short to Ashland, 42-36. 

Alexis Stoops had a big night for the Lady Arrows, she tallied 18 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists. Sydni Carpenter added 12 points. Mariah Mansperger accounted for 10 points and 7 rebounds.

For Lady Lex, Kelly Rhodes put up 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Emily Stevens matched Rhodes team high with 8 points. Michaela Biddle chipped in 5 points.

Ashland won the junior varsity game, 40-14.

Up next, Lexington head’s to St. Peter’s on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
