Lexington boys varsity basketball squad hit the road to take on the West Holmes Knights for a Friday night OCC battle. The Minutemen fell to the Knights, 66-53.
Brady Arnold was all over the place for the Knights. His stat line read 28 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. His five steals were part of 23 turnovers Lexington committed. The Knights cashed in and converted them to 21 points. The Minutemen converted 10 West Holmes turnovers into 8 points.
Arnold sank 15 of 18 from the charity stripe. The Knights sank 31 point from the foul line on Friday. Lexington earned 13 from the stripe.
Luke Ogi also reached double digits for West Holmes with 13 points and 5 rebounds. For Lexington, Bryan Truax countered with 9 points and 7 rebounds. He would lead Lex on the boards for a team victory in the game’s rebound margin, 27-22.
Matt Barkett led Lex with 18 points. Zach Temple followed with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Joey Zahn posted 9 points.
Lexington won the junior varsity match, 36-31.
On Friday, Jan. 31, Lexington returns home to face OCC leader Mansfield Senior. The last time the two met, the Minutemen dealt the Tygers their only loss. West Holmes maintains leagues second berth with only 2 OCC losses and will play Ashland that same night.
