It was a tough Friday night for the Plymouth Big Red as they hit to road to take on Firelands foe New London. The Wildcats snatched an upset victory with a 52-51 win over Plymouth.
Plymouth lead for most of the game. They led 23-19 at half and even extended the lead 43-30 going into the 4th. The hosting Wildcats would unleash a scoring run of 21 points and held Plymouth to 8 points in the fourth to overtake and edge the Big Red by a point.
The game saw a trio of players account for all but 4 of the Plymouth’s total points. Tyrell Emiston put up 21 points for Plymouth. Prolific point guard Tyson Beebe was held to 14 points. Dodge Collins added 12 points.
New London won the turnover margin, 12-8, and the rebound margin, 18-15.
The loss was a tough loss for the Firelands conference leaders. As Mapleton came into Plymouth for a second conference matchup, Big Red bounced back.
The Big Red ripped down 26 rebounds, and forced Mapleton into 23 turnovers 23 times, while only giving up possession 7 times on the night.
Edmiston delivered a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The other half of the Big Red duo, Beebe, returned to form with 19 points on the night. Trevor Hammond added 8 points.
Up next, Plymouth will travel to St. Paul for a Friday night matchup.
