Those going to the Twelfth Annual Beach Party at the Richland County Fairgrounds can expect to see Hawaiian shirts, beach themed decorations and festivities in Fairhaven Hall in the middle of January.

The Madison Twp Lions Club with special participation by the Butler Lions Club will hold its 12th annual Beach Party staring Phil Dirt and the Dozers, Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at the Richland County Fairgrounds Fairhaven Hall.

Phil Dirt and the Dozers will perform assorted hits from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. The band is most noted for their covers of Beach Boys songs.

Monies raised from ticket sales to the even will benefit the work of the local Lions Club. According to club spokesperson John Scheurer, the event is the largest benefit for the charitable functions they perform throughout the year.

Scheurer shared that the work of the Madison Township Lions Club is far reaching. The Lion’s Club International itself is very active in benefitting blindness. Scheurer said that Madison club carries that out in an arrangement with MedCentral to occasionally act as volunteer couriers for cornea transplants in the event of emergencies. They are also active in supporting Madison Local School District.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.madisonlions.org or at these outlets: Buck’s Bar and Grill, Lexington, Chinatown, Fork and Fingers; Hawkins Market in Ashland, Porky’s Drive In, Squirrel’s Den and the Richland County Fairgrounds.
