This weekend, the Mansfield Playhouse will feature its second showing of “Run For Your Wife,” a British comedy written by Ray Cooney and directed by Mark Jordan.

Starring Eric Gustafson, “Run for Your Wife” tells the tale of a taxi driver named John Smith, who has two wives and tries to use his job as a cover. After an incident, he ends up in the hospital and his two lives unravel.

“What’s really unique is the style because it’s a British farce, so it’s very fast-paced and the actors use British accents,” Jordan stated.

Commenting on the first weekend’s performance on Jan. 10, Jordan said, “The audience went nuts for it.”

He added, “We’ve got a very talented cast who’ve been wonderful to work with…They worked very hard throughout the rehearsal period.”

The play runs about two hours and includes an intermission. The final performances will be held Jan. 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 19 at 2:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, go to www.mansfieldplayhouse.com.

Jordan, who has written and directed many shows at Malabar Farm, stated, “I have always loved this kind of comedy farce. It brings lots of laughs and has a very energetic style.”

Jordan hopes the audience leaves the theatre with smiles on their faces. “Right in the depths of winter, people could use a good laugh. Whether people are down from the weather or whatever it is, they can just come watch and laugh themselves silly.”
